I will be completing my 2nd year membership this coming September 2012 and can?t wait for renewal. While I?m serving term as vice president till September 2012, I?m looking to help the grow the chapter as well to help other members to grow their business as well.

In the month of June 2012, I?ve conducted new member induction this time and it?s a pretty exciting moment for our chapter. By growing the chapter, it helps us to generate more referrals for each other. It?s crucial for all of us to commit by attending the meeting every week plus spending more time outside the meeting by conducting 1-2-1 meeting with members.

Besides our weekly 60 seconds and 1-2-1 meetings with members, 10-minute business showcase is part of the chapter meeting agenda that provide platform for members to present more in-depth business presentation to members and visitors. Members are given 6 weeks in advance to prepare their slides presentations and 8 minutes to present on the day members supposed to present. Another 2 minutes will be reserved for Q & A session. Members who are presenting their 10-minute presentation also required to bring a door gift for that day too.

I?ve presented today for my 10-minute presentation and managed to get a referral for a potential lucrative business. By being specifically presenting what?s your ideal referral, members will give the right one ideal referrals to you eventually. It?s about farming and not hunting. Penn State to respond soon to NCAA demand for info

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. --As the NCAA considers whether Penn State should face penalties following the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal -- including a possible shutdown of its celebrated football program -- the university says it will respond within days to the governing body's demand for information.

The head of the NCAA has declared that the so-called death penalty has not been ruled out for Penn State, but university president Rodney Erickson said Tuesday he doesn't want to "jump to conclusions" about possible sanctions.

The NCAA is investigating whether Penn State lost "institutional control" over its athletic program and violated ethics rules. Its probe had been on hold for eight months while former FBI Director Louis Freeh conducted an investigation on behalf of the school's board of trustees. Freeh's 267-page report, released last week, asserted that late football coach Joe Paterno and three top officials buried allegations against Sandusky, his retired defensive coordinator, more than a decade ago to protect the university's image.

Sandusky was convicted last month of sexually abusing 10 boys over a 15-year period. He awaits sentencing.

Erickson said now that Penn State has the results of its own investigation in hand, it can turn its attention to the NCAA.

"The NCAA has indicated that they'd like me to respond ... as quickly as possible now that we have the Freeh report," he said. "So we've already started the process of starting to compose that response. We'll do so over the course of the next few days and get that response back as soon as possible, and we'll then engage in discussions with the NCAA."

In a PBS interview Monday night, NCAA President Mark Emmert said he's "never seen anything as egregious as this in terms of just overall conduct and behavior inside a university." He said he doesn't want to take "anything off the table" if there's a finding that Penn State violated NCAA rules.

The last time the NCAA shut down a football program was in the 1980s, when Southern Methodist University was forced to drop the sport because of extra benefits violations. After the NCAA suspended the SMU program for a year, the school decided not to play in 1988, either, as it tried to regroup.

Erickson would not say whether he thought Penn State deserved to have its football program yanked.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves here," Erickson told The Associated Press as he conducted a round of media interviews in his office on Tuesday. "Let's wait for this process to unfold. Literacy Volunteers of Union County, dedicated to providing free, student-centered tutoring services to adults who struggle to read, write and speak English, is now registering for it Fall 2012 New Tutor Training class which begins on September 8 in Elizabeth.

Elizabeth, N.J. ? Elizabeth Public Library Partners with Literacy Volunteers to Provide Fall Tutor Training Program.??Literacy Volunteers of Union County, dedicated to providing free, student-centered tutoring services to adults who struggle to read, write and speak English, is now registering for it Fall 2012 New Tutor Training class which begins on September 8 in Elizabeth.? The 15-hour volunteer training, held at the Elizabeth Public Library, 11 South Broad Street, will be conducted on September 8, 22, and 29, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.?The Library is underwriting the cost of the training in order to encourage literacy tutoring in the community.

The Need for Tutors

?There is an urgent need for tutoring services in Elizabeth so we are thrilled to partner with the Elizabeth Public Library to respond to the need,? said Elizabeth Gloeggler, executive director of Literacy Volunteers.? ?Along with paying for the cost of providing the training, the Library has dedicated space and tutoring materials in the library for literacy tutors to work with their students.?

Attendance is required at all three training sessions to become a certified tutor of both Basic Reading Skills and English as a Second Language.

Literacy Volunteer tutors?will be matched with a student or students from the growing waiting list of over 200 adults who have turned to Literacy Volunteers for help reading, writing and speaking English. Volunteer tutors meet with their student(s) in a public location, usually a Union County Public Library, for one to two hours each week. New volunteers are asked to make a commitment of 50 hours, which usually takes about one year to complete.

Literacy Volunteers of Union County

LVUC provides ongoing supervision and support to tutors in the form of free in-services on specific topics such as Health Literacy, Learning Disabilities, Financial Literacy and Developing ESL Conversation and Small Group Instruction. Literacy Volunteers of Union County?s Tutor Liaison Committee provides additional support through a mentoring program, which brings more experienced tutors and new volunteers together to share ideas.

About Volunteering

To volunteer, you must be at least 18-years-old, able to speak and read English and willing to tutor in Union County. You do not need to have any teaching experience and you do not need to speak a foreign language. During the workshop new volunteers will learn techniques and develop skills to tutor adult learners.

There is a $40 non-refundable registration fee to cover the cost of training materials distributed to new volunteers at the workshop. Need based scholarships are available to cover the cost of registration for qualifying individuals and are based on availability.
